Meet the Executive
Lisa Manning-Eaton - President/Web
I have been working with The Piper Creek Foundation Managing Parkvale Lodge for 6 years. I love getting up in the morning knowing that we are making a difference in the lives of our seniors and their families.
I enjoy AMSSCH, it is a great organization that provides support through networking, motivational conferences and workshops and the ability to ask a question and get 100 different answers is invaluable. I have been on the Executive for AMSSCH for 3 years, and am excited to take on the role of President.
While not working, I enjoy spending time with my family. I am a proud mom of a busy little 4.5 year old. We love being outside, swimming and spending time with grandparents and great grandparents. My husband and I also host International Students during the school year, it is a great way to learn about different cultures in the world.
I look forward to serving on the AMSSCH board this year and I am excited with direction we are going.
Vic Klassen-Vice President
I have been involved in the senior’s industry for almost 33 years in a variety of capacities from Chef through to Corporate positions, with the most recent being the GM of Cedarwood Station Retirement Residence for Masterpiece Care. Being able to care and provide for seniors is my passion day after day.
My experience has allowed me to gain substantial knowledge, insight and skills in management, with experience in many areas. Having been a member of AMSSCH for a few years has shown me how much more there is to learn from the many wonderful and experienced people that this organization encompasses. Needless to say, the numerous valuable conferences that I have attended; have been very worthwhile with many trusted friendships formed, and countless times that invaluable information has been shared.
When not working, I enjoy exercising, running, cooking and my wife and I love to get together with friends, go golfing or have some fun with our grandchildren.
I am excited about being part of such an informative and worthwhile group of individuals and look forward to helping out as a director with AMSSCH. I live what I say, say what I believe, and believe in what I do. My personal motto is simply, “Living in 3D - Desire…Determination…Dedication”.
Make someone smile today, and you’ve made a difference!

"I have been employed as a CAO in the Seniors Housing Industry for 7 years now and have greatly enjoyed my associations with so many who are making a positive impact on the lives of our seniors
I have been a member of AMSSCH for these past 7 years also and have more recently served on the Executive for the past 3 years. AMSSCH membership provides me invaluable educational and networking opportunities within the Seniors Housing industry of Alberta. As a current member of the executive I am happy for the opportunity to associate with others dedicated to the positive growth and betterment of our profession and ultimately the Seniors we serve. I feel it a privilege to belong to this great organization!
I am happily married (28 years now) to my sweetheart & the mother of my 5 children (2 boys & 3 girls). We have owned & operated retail and an international wholesale manufacturing business. I retired from a busy chiropractic practice in 1999. When not working I like to relax with my family, go camping and enjoy the great outdoors."
Joyce Pederson - Director
Born and raised in Northern Ireland I immigrated to Canada in 1972 at the age of 21to no job or family but to safety due to the troubles going on in Ireland. I left Ireland with a Batchelor’s Degree in Business and my dieticians degree.
On my second day in Canada I got a job as head cook with the Metropolitan Calgary Foundation housing for seniors now known as “Silvera” in Calgary. After two years of being with the company I entered into management and continued to grow within the organization for the next 33 years until I retired from the company in 2007
April 2008 I was bored being at home and missed the interaction with the seniors and people so I applied for a manager’s job at the Foothills Foundation in High River. I started with the Foothills Foundation April 23 2008 and is still working for them.
On a personal note I am married, 2 children and 6 grandchildren.
I love special days like Christmas, Easter, Thanks Giving as I love to cook as these days gives me the opportunity to use my culinary arts. I also love the outdoors walking, hiking, camping and gardening.
Val Scott - Director
Joining the team with the Foothills Foundation in 2000 after being a stay at home Mom for 14 years. Starting out
at the High Country Lodge in Black Diamond as a Center Supervisor working the after hours shift work. When an
opening came available at the Sandstone Lodge in Okotoks, which is closer to home I transferred. After six years of shift
work the opportunity of working in the office atmosphere came along, which of course I could not pass up. Three
years ago I went back to where I started and became the Center Manager of High Country - and am loving it!
Operating a large portfolio in my district in having lodge, self contained apartments, family housing and affordable housing
in both Black Diamond and our neighboring town of Turner Valley. I love working with our seniors and families
in our close net community in being able to offer our services to assist individuals to enhance their quality of life.
I have a wonder life here in Okotoks with my husband of 30 years. Together we have 3 children (2 daughters & a son)
With the addition of 2 son-in-laws, a busy little grandson and a bright eyed granddaughter - WOW its great!
When not at work I spend my time reading, puttering in the yard, walking and I love to cook. Sitting around on the deck
by the fire with a beverage in hand is on the agenda on a Friday night after that long but so rewarding work week.
I am very exciting to be on the Board for AMSSCH and look forward to a great year!!
