The Executive of the Alberta Managers’ Society Senior Citizens\' Housing

  • Consists of nine (9) members elected from the membership to fill the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Communications Director, Web Coordinator and (3) one year Directors.
  • The volunteer who fills the position of Convention Committee Chairperson is invited to meet with the executive for their valuable input in these areas.
  • It is ideal for the executive to consist of members representing each Zone in the Province although this is not a requirement.

All members of the executive are responsible to:

  • Recruit new members to the Society and the Executive
  • Work effectively as a team
  • Share pertinent information with the Executive
  • Attend all scheduled meetings, regular and special.
  • Act as a liaison between membership and the Executive
  • Be an advocate for the Society.

PRESIDENT

  • The President presides over all meetings of the Executive and of the Society.
  • Ensures that the Executive meets a minimum of four (4) times per year;
  • The President supervises the affairs of the Executive; is an ex-officio member of all committees;
  • The President normally acts as the spokesperson promoting the purpose of the Society at Zone meetings or as required, but may appoint a designate to attend in his or her place;
  • The President, or designate, shall submit to each Annual General Meeting a report on behalf of the Executive regarding the general business of the Society.
  • Review written policies and procedures of the Society;
  • Assist with planning of workshops and conventions as needed;
  • This position is a one (1) year term with an honorarium of $1000.00 per year attached.

PAST PRESIDENT

The Immediate Past President shall:

  • At the invitation of the Executive, be available as a consultant to attend Executive meetings of the Society; and
  • Fulfill any other duties assigned by the Executive.
  • This position has no honorarium attached.

VICE PRESIDENT

  • In the absence of, or as appointed by the President, the Vice-President shall perform the duties of the President and when so acting shall have all the powers and authorities of the President;
  • The Vice-President shall be responsible for recognition of new and existing members;
  • Review written policies and procedures of the Society;
  • Assist with planning of workshops and conventions as needed;
  • Carries out duties as assigned by the Executive;
  • This is a one (1) year position and does not have an honorarium attached.

SECRETARY

  • The Secretary shall attend all meetings of the Society and the Executive;
  • Develop and forward to the executive all meeting agendas;
  • Record the minutes of all Executive and Annual General Meetings;
  • Archive records of all matters other than financial.
  • Review written policies and procedures of the Society;
  • Assist with planning of workshops and conventions as needed;
  • Under the direction of the executive the secretary will amend bylaws as needed, develop resolutions to be forwarded to membership for vote at the Annual General meeting.
  • The Secretary will provide a copy of the updated bylaws to the Treasurer for submission to the government with organizations annual return.
  • This is a two (2) year position and there is an honorarium of $500.00 per year attached.

TREASURER

  • The Treasurer shall attend all meetings of the Society and the Executive;
  • Keep a record of all members of the Society including their contact information;
  • Receive all monies paid to the Society and be responsible for the deposit of the same;
  • Keep accurate and adequate financial records for the Society, and maintain custody of same;
  • Collect all membership fees and yearly dues for maintaining accurate membership lists and records;
  • Provide a detailed account of receipts and disbursements at all Executive meetings and at the Annual General Meeting;
  • Formulate a list of workshop and Annual General Meeting registrants for distribution;
  • Ensure that the books are audited annually;
  • Prepare the following years budget to be presented and approved by the membership at the Annual General Meeting;
  • Archive records of financial matters;
  • Submit any amendments to bylaws along with the list of elected executive to the Alberta Corporate Registries within sixty (60) days of the approval;
  • Submit society annual return to Alberta Corporate Registries.
  • Review written policies and procedures of the Society;
  • Assist with planning of workshops and conventions as needed;
  • This is a two (2) year position and there is an Honorarium of $500.00 per year attached.

COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR

  • The Communication Director may fulfill those responsibilities as allocated by the Executive;
  • Review written policies and procedures of the Society;
  • Assist with planning of workshops and conventions as needed;
  • Provide newsletters to the membership on a Quarterly basis;
  • To make available to members valuable, up to date information from the Society, including emailing to all paid members;
  • The Communications Director is responsible to ensure the membership renewals, convention and workshop information is included in the appropriate newsletter to give the membership ample time to respond.
  • The Communications Director, is a two (2) year appointment with an honorarium of $500.00 per year attached.

WEBSITE COORDINATOR

  • The Website Coordinator may fulfill those responsibilities as allocated by the Executive;
  • Review written policies and procedures of the Society; and
  • Assist with planning of workshops and conventions as needed;
  • Promoting and recruiting new members.
  • Works in conjunction with Communications Director to ensure members receive appropriate communication.
  • Be the liaison with Web host.
  • Be appointed to participate on various committees as representatives of the Society;

OTHER DIRECTORS

  • The Directors may fulfill those responsibilities as allocated by the Executive;
